ALoft Hotel on Olentangy

Stories Architect, Warren Bath led the $20M ALoft Hotel in Columbus, Ohio from initial design through construction management in partnership with OHM.

This landmark project demonstrates our ability to manage hospitality design across every phase—balancing brand standards, guest experience, and developer ROI.

Location & Context

The ALoft Columbus University District sits at 1295 Olentangy River Road, just north of The Ohio State University in Columbus’s dynamic University District. Strategically placed near OSU’s campus, its medical complex, and the Greater Columbus Convention Center, the hotel serves both academic and business travelers while anchoring a rapidly revitalizing corridor.

Historical & Development Significance

Developed by Indus Hotels, the $20M project transformed a 2.9-acre parcel along Olentangy River Road into a design-forward, boutique-style hotel. As part of the University District’s larger wave of investment, aLoft brought fresh hospitality options that responded directly to the area’s growing demand and evolving identity.

Design Concept & Brand Integration

As Project Architect, Warren Bath guided the aloft Hotel from concept design through construction management in partnership with OHM. Inspired by the aloft brand’s vibrant identity, we extended its colors and visual language into architectural details, bringing a modern take on mid-century charm that resonates with the district’s layered history.

Guest Experience & Amenities

The 164-room hotel delivers Aloft’s signature lively guest experience with:

  • WXYZ Bar – a social hub with local events and music. Inspired by the famous KEXP radio station cafe in Seattle, Washington.

  • Re:Fuel Café – convenient grab-and-go dining.

  • Re:Charge Fitness – a 24/7 gym.

  • The Mondrian Pool – a leisure space that complements the urban setting. Designed with elements inspired by the timeless artwork of Dutch artist, Piet Mondrian.
